LeoVegas £5,000 charity pledge following tragic cancer death
My name is Andrew and I work for LeoVegas, I want to share a story from my weekend – a story about an illness which has a devastating impact on millions of people across the UK every year. I hope that this short story and any money we raise from it can go some way – however small that may be – to help the fight against cancer.
My friend lost her sister, a school lost their headteacher, a husband lost his wife and two young boys lost their mother.
It would have been easy to lose hope but Caroline Thomson’s death has inspired a series of fundraisers in her memory.
Desperate to do her sister proud and raise money for the two charities that played a key role in Caroline’s final months, my friend Shona Gossip arranged and embarked upon fundraisers that have seen her complete races, take on sponsored cycles and conquer her fear of heights with a sponsored abseil.
Shona’s latest fundraiser was a charity ball which took place on Friday night, complete with a raffle and auction. The top auction item was a Manchester United strip signed by Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic! Upon hearing of Caroline’s story, LeoVegas were keen to donate to the two charities and did so by winning the signed Zlatan strip with a bid of £1,450.
The plan was to use the framed shirt to decorate the LeoVegas office, however, that plan changed when my bosses saw how much the auction donation meant to the charities.
They are desperate to do more to help and raise even more money for Clan and Brain Tumour Action and have decided the best way to do this is to give the shirt away again!
How to participate
We have placed a picture of the framed shirt, signed by the Swedish legend, on Facebook and for every person who comments on the post, tagging a friend who would like to win the shirt, we will donate another £1, up to £5,000!
Everyone who is tagged will then enter a random draw on Tuesday the 14th of March, with one name picked out to win the shirt!
Most importantly we will hopefully give another £5,000 to these incredibly worthwhile charities who both provided invaluable support to Caroline and her family as she bravely fought an illness which affects so many people across the UK every year.
So visit the LeoVegas Facebook page today and start commenting on the Zlatan post for your chance to win the shirt and help us raise even more money for a great cause!
