What is live roulette?
Live roulette has been around for a few years now in online casinos. It can be described as a middle ground between being physically present in a traditional bricks-and-mortar land casino and playing the original type of online roulette. The one that involves a computer randomly determining which numbers come up next on a digital roulette wheel.
Playing at a land casino isn’t always practical for logistical reasons. And practical though playing the old-school type of online roulette is, it does admittedly lack some of the thrill element to it. Not to mention the human element that many players enjoy. Unless you’re Sheldon Cooper, in which case the latter will be seen as a bonus.
Live roulette takes place in a land Casino or a studio that’s set up like one and works in just the same way as the type you see in Bond films. Except you can’t order a Vodka Martini at the table and you don’t have to wear a Tuxedo. Unless you want to, of course.
You select your bets in the normal way by pressing a few buttons and the chips will be put on the box (or boxes) of your choice by a real (human!) dealer. There’s a live feed showing all of this going on in real time. When you hear the call of ‘no more bets, please’ the wheel will be spun and the Dealer will go through the regular paying out process as normal. Except they’ll do it with a smile.
Which is why Kristen Stewart isn’t allowed to work as a Croupier at live roulette LeoVegas.
Which different live roulette games exist?
One of LeoVegas’ big beliefs is that variety is the spice of life. That’s why we don’t have just have two or three different live roulette games but rather we have lots and lots scattered around our Live Casino. In fact, we have more than any other mobile Casino.
You can play live roulette online with us at LeoVegas at tables that are managed by some of the industry’s top providers, including Evolution Gaming, Extreme and NetEnt.
Just using NetEnt as an example, you can play on tables located in London, Sweden, Germany and Denmark. In each one the Croupier will talk you through everything in the local language, so you feel right at home.
Some of the tables have little quirks that set them apart from the rest. At one table run by Extreme, you can play at a table that uses a golden ball rather than the standard white one.
One of the great things about Live Roulette is that the Dealers have been hand-picked after numerous auditions to make this a fun, sociable, interactive experience. That means that each table has Dealers with different personalities who you can get to know and have banter with at the table. The only thing that stays the same is their professionalism while managing the game.
One last thing. Whereas the tables that are run by the providers just mentioned are also played at by players at other casinos, we have our own exclusive table just for LeoVegas players. It’s called Chambre séparée and it’s the one with the LeoVegas icon on it in the top right hand corner.
The Croupier at that table is actually a Lion.*
*This last part may or may not be true.
What’s the difference between European and American live roulette?
One of the most frequently asked questions regarding the game of roulette. We’ll start by telling you that you don’t need to a VISA in order to move from one table to the other. But here’s the real answer.
Live European roulette
The European roulette wheel has 37 pockets on it. The 36 numbers that are always red or black plus one zero, which is always green.
Live American roulette
The American roulette wheel has 38 pockets in it. The 36 just mentioned plus two zeros, rather than one. There’s also a Double Zero (00) on the American roulette wheel. Though the presence of the second Zero marginally reduces your chances of winning on all other bets, it does give you the option of having an extra number to bet on if you’re in that way inclined.
Maybe Double Zero is the new black or something.
Mobile live roulette
Ok, so let’s go through the different levels of inconvenience as regards playing roulette. Top of the inconvenience table is having to make your way to a land Casino. If you live in London it will be raining and you’ll be drenched even before you exchange your money for playing chips. Next up on the inconvenience table is having to play on your computer. That requires you being at home or having to carry around a heavy chunk of plastic, metal and glass with you and asking people for Wi-fi codes.
Bottom of the inconvenience table (or top of the convenience one, if you prefer) is playing live roulette on your mobile.
The mobile live roulette experience at LeoVegas
It doesn’t matter where you are, you can play live roulette on mobile. The clue is in the word – mobile. The experience will be exactly the same as it would be on your laptop, whether it’s live roulette for android or live roulette for iphone.
So in addition to the whole fun of playing it, there are now no excuses for ever being bored while waiting for your friend to show up or for that late train to show up. If you’re in London, your train will inevitably be late.
And if you find it awkward making small talk with strangers in public, you don’t have to worry about that any more, either. Just chat to your favourite Live Dealer, instead.
