NetEnt have a busy spring coming up
We’ve said before and we’ll say it again because it’s true. The release of a new NetEnt slot is always a big deal and comes with a certain amount of pressure attached to it. But that’s the price of success.
Copy Cats by NetEnt is sandwiched between Fairytale Legends: Hansel and Gretel (available in late April) and Scruffy Duck (second week of May), both released before it and Butterfly Staxx, released after it in June. We’ve hidden the exact release date of Copy Cats in this text so like a truffle-seeking hog, you’ll have to sniff the release date out. We promise it’s in there somewhere.
We’ve already looked at what (NetEnt new slots) Scruffy Duck is all about and it wasn’t too long ago that we were talking about Wild Wild West: the Great Train Heist. Both of those were quality games. And the Copy Cat slot is about as sure a thing to be at least as good or better as those two slots as Donald Trump is a sure thing to not be invited to a Women’s Institute Christmas dinner.
Copy Cat slot could have reels that copy each other
Now, we really don’t have any information at all about Copy Cats. Apparently all the details to do with the theme, graphics and bonus features are all under lock and key in the vault of a Swiss bank, protected by a bomb-proof cast iron door and guarded by both Dwayne Johnson and Chuck Norris. And if you think Chuck Norris is ‘past it’ or ‘over the hill’, then consider this: Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird. Yeah, not to be messed with.
So with no information to go by, we have to do like the bankers, investors and stock brokers that brought about the horrid worldwide recession just a few years ago and…speculate. Difference being that if we get it wrong, it won’t matter too much! So what features could it have?
Wild Wild West had a curious free spins round where at the start of the free spins, a wheel was spun to reveal one of four different types of Wilds that would be present during the free spins. One had a multiplier, one was Sticky and so on. And it wasn’t too long ago that Warlords, also by NetEnt, featured three completely different types of free spins- one for each of the Warlords.
So it’s not crazy to think that Copy Cats by NetEnt could go down a similar route and be all about the free spins once again. But what would the free spins be like? Well, the clue could be in the name.
Maybe during free spins you can play a Copy Cat card and if you got a big win, you use the card and it gives you the exact winning combination again.
Or maybe if you get a particular symbol on Reel 1 during free spins, the reel combination will be copied onto Reels 3 and 5 to give you the same wins there.
But here’s what we definitely do know. The slot will be available on desktop but also on mobile. Meaning that if you’re playing it on a train and the guy next to you seems to like it and start playing it too, you’d have in him your very own…Copy Cat.
New slot could well have ‘reel’ cats in it
The new NetEnt slot is really teasing us just with its title. And let’s recall what it actually means. A copy cat is someone who imitates someone else by performing a particular action, catchphrase or gesture. We checked with our Research Department and whereas the ‘copy’ part of the expression is self-explanatory, no-one could quite explain the ‘cat’ part of it. Well, we sure as hell hope there are some actual cats in this slot who go around mirroring the actions of other cats.
We here at LeoVegas are always positively biased towards anything cat-related given that Leo is our mascot. And we could really do with a quality cat slot. Astro Cat was cuteish, albeit a little chaotic and maybe it’s time someone like NetEnt make a cat-themed game that really takes things to the next level.
But careful (something the bankers that caused millions of people to lose millions and millions didn’t bother doing) analysis suggests there really might be some cats in this slot. The reason is the NetEnt have gone a little bit animal crazy just of late. Scruffy Duck and Butterfly Staxx definitely have animals in them and you’d think the same would be true of Jungle Spirit. When it’s eventually released.
Where they’re not likely to be too adventurous is with the reel structure. A 5×3 reel slot is pretty much the norm these days and NetEnt are probably happy to let the likes of Barcrest mess around with variations on that and at least keep that part of the game conventional.
We’re about to finally reveal the release date
They say good things come to those who wait. But that isn’t always true because last year we queued to buy Glastonbury tickets and the waiting certainly didn’t result in anything good. We didn’t get any tickets but we did get drenched with rain.
But this should be worth the wait. Copy Cats will be released on the 23rd May and if you can’t stand the tension, you can come back to the LeoVegas Blog in a few weeks’ time when we’ll tell you actual facts about the game rather than just speculation. By that stage the secret info will have travelled from that Swiss bank to LeoVegas HQ and we’ll tell you what we know.
In the meanwhile, you can play our existing slots, whether cat-related or otherwise, in the LeoVegas Casino.
